ALAND (ÅLAND) PHILATELY
Revenue Stamps

With the granted autonomy of Aland when Finland was declared independent in 1917, Aland started to issue its own revenue stamps in 1923. These where used for confirmation of payment of mandatory taxes with the stamps attached to respective documents. This practice lasted until 2002. Over the period of usage several designs have been issued ranging from 1923 to 1962, 1963 to 1977 and 1978 to 2002.

Finland's revenue stamps could also be used in Aland.
